Brunswick it is!

Made it to Brunswick on a dreary, cloudy day that saw drizzle off and on throughout the day took refuge at a Regal theater and caught a movie when I reached what I thought was the edge of Brunswick….after the movie I found out that the “outskirts” of Brunswick are huge….and I had 4 more miles to get to the cheap motel I booked. Whoops!

Better planning will be required tomorrow as l make my way towards Freeport, and LL Bean world.

it is POURING rain as I post this, and getting late/early….but I’m out to date on my posts now!☺☺☺☺☺☺

Shoot out at the asian, lobster, corral…not really.

Made it through Damariscotta and all the way to an interesting little fiefdom just outside Wiscasset…

turns out the Schooner Inn, the fish stand, the all you can eat asian buffet restaurant, and the local dive bar are all owed by the same guy. The restaurant faces the road, the bar is entered from a walk out basement behind the restaurant, and the motel faces the bar….the seafood store is across the street.

seemed harmless enough, until about 1:30am when all hell broke loose. 15 or 20 very inebriated twenty-some things all seem to disagree about everything all at once, and my room provided a front row seat to all the action as things spilled out of the bar. Aahh, the beauty of youth on full display….but not much sleep 🙁

Next up, Bath…or maybe even Brunswick ☺

A surprise accommodation….

After two campsites in a row, it was looking like a threepeat on Thusday until a very nice family intervened. I met Arianna via phone when I was calling to find out availability for a campsite in Nobleboro. After talking with her for a bit she was intrigued by my trip and read my blog. She then offered dinner and a hot shower….if her husband Mike agreed. That offer turned into a free nights lodging, dinner, a hot shower, and free entertainment from their 18 month old son Nathaniel ☺ thanks for all your help guys, you are wonderful humans?

all that and I Covered nearly 27 miles. Next stop, Wiscasset.

Campgrounds galore!

….in Northport I stayed at the Northport Campground and met a wandering ‘Jerseyite who “forced” me to visit a lobster shack down the street from the campground. It was nice to be able to talk to someone from closer to home☺

then on Wednesday I made my way through Camden and Rockport and stayed at Megunticook campground south of Rockport. Not much to speak of there, but the pool was nice☺ and Camden/Rockport is a fabulous twin town combo….I could live here I think?

….but first I need to get to Key West, and to do that I need to get out if Maine.

Where have I been?

….Working my way down the coast of Maine if course. After staying the night at the Yardarm Motel in Searsport I spent a day working my way through Belfast. I visited Perry’s Nut House and had lunch at the Laan Xang Cafe overlooking the harbor, before heading to Northport for the night.
