Plodding my way through S Carolina

20151007_182940
Made it to a motel in Georgetown last night….along with lots of contractors, and emergency personnel. South Carolina continues to recover from the historic flooding, as the governor makes statements about more flooding and evacuations to come….as rivers crest. Today as I left for Charleston a convoy of emergency rescue vehicles from Nashville zoomed by.
I will be outside for the next few days as I cover the 60 miles to Charleston…I’ll post if I can.?
BTW, THE WEATHER IS BEAUTIFUL NOW!!!☺

Safe in Myrtle Beach

It is a mess down here in the Carolinas. The rain has finally stopped and the clean up has begun. For me it’s just another day of logging miles…18 today. Will try to do a bit bettertomorrow. 20151005_131612

Making a run for the border

1443966589232-93900799I made it to a little town called Shallotte last night and I am now just 10 miles from being able to leave North Carolina! After looking at all the warnings and flooding footage, i have decided to make a run for the South Carolina border today. I am hoping to get 18 miles south and cross into South Carolina. The town of Little River has likely been renamed big river, but the Days Inn is open and above water so im goin’!☺?
Epic rainfall totals have already fallen all over the eastern Carolinas, with Charleston leading the charge at 15″, but flooding on route 17 has been limited thus far….and that’s my route to Little River, and then Myrtle Beach on Monday.
Wish me luck! It’s gonna be another wet one!

Rain, rain, flooding, more rain

I made it to Bolivia last night, and a wonderful dinner put together by my host Rea and a Cadre of fabulous women…and their pile of young boys. The rain is relentless, and may force me to take a day off today. The forcast calls for up to 10 inches of rain here, and as many as 15 inches where im headed (Myrtle Beach).
The good news is that the reporter from the Star News wrote a nice piece that is already posted on their website, and should be in todays print addition.http://www.starnewsonline.com/article/20151001/ARTICLES/151009981/0/search
